Pi Calculator Game

Type the digits of pi as fast as you can remember them. Get one right, the streak grows. Get one wrong, it resets. That's the entire game — and it's ridiculously addictive.

How the pi game works

The rules of Pi — The Game are extremely simple, which is exactly why it sticks:

  1. The screen shows 3. and waits for you to type the next digit.
  2. Each correct digit extends your streak and appears on screen.
  3. Each wrong digit resets you back to 3.
  4. Every 10 digits is a milestone; the game rewards you with a tiny celebration.
  5. Your best streak is saved locally on your device — no accounts, no cloud.

Why a game helps you memorize

Most people who try to memorize pi by brute-force recitation give up after 20 or 30 digits. The game works because it combines three things psychology already knew worked: spaced repetition (you re-type early digits every time you try again), immediate feedback (you know instantly whether you got it right), and streak loss aversion (you don't want to lose a 37-digit streak, so you concentrate).

The iPhone version of Pi — The Game goes further with haptic feedback, custom themes, a global leaderboard, and "chunking" that groups digits into easy-to-remember blocks of ten.
